Getting Smart with Money: Financial Anxiety

Here are two articles I found this week that you might find useful:

1.     The Financial Whisperer to Trump’s America
Whether you agree with his approach to personal finance or not, it’s hard to deny the impact Dave Ramsey has had on helping people change their financial future through his common-sense, no-frills approach to getting out of debt, living on a budget, and building wealth. This (rather lengthy) article from Politico chronicles Ramsey’s 25-year career and how his message is needed now more than ever in a time of economic (not to mention social and cultural) anxiety in America.

2.     Money and Confidence are Interchangeable
One of my favorite money bloggers, Mr. Money Mustache, hits it out of the park with this article about money and confidence. I think we sometimes miss the point of building wealth: it’s not about amassing as much as we can to win an ultimately un-winnable game, but rather it’s for the options, freedom, and chutzpah required to live a meaningful life.

We all have our insecurities and anxieties about money, some warranted, others irrational. I hope these two articles are a good reminder that ultimately, how you relate to money is in your control. I can’t think of any better news than that.
