Getting Smart with Money: Resources for Resolutions

Happy 2018!  Here are three resources I found this week that you might enjoy or find useful.

Resource 1:  A Book - Your Best Year Ever by Michael Hyatt
Each year, I feel a sense of anticipation and relief when the calendar turns over and I’m staring down the barrel of a new year.  It’s a time to reflect on the past, make plans for the future, and redefine myself based on the lessons I learned in the prior year and what I want to accomplish for the upcoming one.  If you’re looking for a great system to set goals (financial included!), this book will show you how.  My husband and I recently completed the online course based on this book, and we both gained some powerful insights and strategies for making 2018 the best year ever.

Resource 2:  A Podcast - Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller
I use podcasts as a way to keep my mind engaged while I’m driving, and thankfully, there is no shortage of excellent podcasts to choose from.  This is one of my favorite weekly podcasts by one of the smartest guys in the marketing and small business growth space.  Even if you don’t have a small business, the weekly podcast interviews guests who have much to offer in the way of personal development and leadership.  If you’re looking for a good podcast to start your year off right, give this week’s episode a listen on how to make fear your friend in 2018.  Better yet, subscribe to the weekly podcast on iTunes or Stitcher so you don’t miss an episode.

Resource 3:  A Series Show - The Crown on Netflix
Like so many of us, I spent part of Christmas with my good friend the flu.  My particular version included two days of crippling laryngitis, so I gave my family a break from listening to me talk and curled up on the couch for something I rarely do — TV watching. I had heard about Netflix’s The Crown and decided to give it a watch.  I was hooked.  This historical drama is about Queen Elizabeth’s ascent and reign and the creation of one of the most powerful cultural institutions in England whose reach goes 'round the globe. One of my goals for 2018 is to build in a little downtime for myself, and I know this show is going to be one of the ways I achieve that goal!

Let me know what you think about this week’s resources. I love hearing from you!
